At Tormey & McConnell, we are advocates for educating our community about the importance of safety on the roadways. For this reason, our team of Amarillo car accident lawyers has created a vehicle accident report that provides information about wrecks that took place during the previous month of June.

With this report, we hope to keep our community informed and promote vehicle safety. However, we understand that collisions can still occur. If you or a loved one suffered injuries caused by the reckless behavior of another motorist, our team can help.

When you contact our firm, we will review the details surrounding your case and inform you of your legal options. After an accident, it’s in your best interest to contact an attorney as soon as possible, because this type of case is time-sensitive. Waiting too long to take legal action can result in little to no compensation.

ABC 7 Amarillo reported, “A preliminary investigation showed the bus was traveling north on Texas-214 and preparing to turn west onto CR-1028. The truck driver was behind the bus on 214 and attempted to pass the bus driver as the driver of the bus was turning west onto CR 1028.”

Ten children and two drivers were transported to the hospital. The damage was done to the front left panel of the school bus, as well as the front of the truck. The accident is currently under investigation.

A rollover crash on westbound Interstate 40 killed one man and severely injured a woman, around 2 a.m. on June 12, 2019.

Shawn Alan Villegas, 28-years-old, was driving a 2010 Mini Cooper when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a cement wall, causing his car to roll multiple times. Villegas died at the scene.

Villegas’ passenger, a 44-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries. Speed was determined to be a factor in the crash. Alcohol may have also contributed to the accident.

Motorcycle Wreck Killed One Man

David Hestand, 69-years-old, was driving a 2012 Victory motorcycle about three miles east of McLean. He was also towing a cargo trailer. According to ABC 7 Amarillo, “The trailer began to sway from side to side causing the motorcycle and trailer to leave the roadway and travel into the eastbound ditch.” Hestand lost control of the bike and flipped.

He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two Women Killed in Major Accident

A collision at the 7900 block of SW 45th Avenue resulted in the death of two women.

One woman, 65-years-old, was driving a Nissan Rogue eastbound on SW 45th Avenue when she attempted to cross the center lane and collided with a Chevy Impala. The Impala, driven by a 24-year-old woman, was traveling westbound when she was hit.

Speed may have been a factor. Officials also believe that the 65-year-old woman potentially suffered from a medical condition or emergency.
